The trip to the Cotton Bowl 2001 was a much different story than that of 1997. It was icy, horrible treacherous. The STOOPID Wichita weather people said either the 30th or 31st would be a good drive to the Cotton Bowl. I would like to debate their definition of 'a good drive.' We left Wichita at 11am and arrived at the hotel at 10:15pm with a couple of stopovers for gas and lunch. When we hit the Texas border the interstate was a sheet of ice. The snow plow allotted to TX was broken. It took us over three hours to get from Denton to our hotel!
Getting thuglike rowdy for the game from our cheap seats. Temperature peaked out at just above freezing with a nice wind to go with it.
But I was with great company and we were all better for it. And we were facing the most powerful football team in the history of the sport...the ut vols. I worked in Athens TN on a job for 13 weeks in 1998 and all I heard about was how great the vols were to be so great in the toughest conference in the country. Blah Blah Blah. Florida must be that much greater (They've beaten Florida once in about the last decade). You can read my full commentary on the results of the Cotton Bowl here.
The ghetto bird is out lettin us know we are in the 'hood! | We had a nice skyline view from our crappy seats! |
The coin toss | The first play from scrimmage....'Cats in action! |
It's halftime! | So that means the pride of WildcatLand takes the stage! |
