Colonial Williamsburg
Williamsburg is one place that is a true getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life (outside of the busy Virginia summer tourism season). With the Restored downtown, the College of William and Mary, Outlet Malls, Yorktown, Jamestown and Busch Gardens there's a little something for everybody.
The drive from Richmond on 64is beautiful. Trees line the median along a large portion of Virginia's Interstates. | Since Virginia is 64% forested you know there's gonna be some great fall foliage in Williamsburg! |
A shot down one of the historical streets | A bit more extravagant than the typical garden |
The old Governor's palace | The back of the old Governor's palace |
Kids are so lucky! Field trips take on a new meaning in VA! | Across the street is the beautiful College of William & Mary |
In the fall, Williamsburg makes a big deal about wreaths. There is actually a book that has 'recipes' for different wreaths, their symbolic meanings and criteria applied in judging. There is a wreath committee that walks the streets daily, inspecting wreaths, rewarding noteworthy ones. They also flag the ugly ones, the ones that are not according to the specs of the book or have rotting fruit on them.

Of course the old Governor's palace would have something! | I like it. I like it a lot! |
